Making PET bottle moulds: techniques and processes
During the moulding process, preformed PET preforms are reheated, after which they are automatically positioned into moulds. By pumping high pressure compressed air into the mold, the preform expands and forms the mold. When the plastic has cooled, the process is repeated after it has been removed from the bottle. You can manufacture bottles up to 1 liter in capacity and with a variety of neck types using this process. A low minimum order quantity is also available on the bottles, which are available in a variety of colors.

Suitable for water-tight applications, polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is a non-porous, thermosetting plastic. PET is popular among drink bottle manufacturers because of its light weight, safety, and recycling capabilities.
The different types of moulding
- Injection Moulding
Melted plastic is forced into special mold cavities during injection molding. It is then removed from the mold once it has cooled down. Plastic injection molding involves feeding heated plastic into the mold, which forms the part as it cools
- Blow Molding
Injection molding is fairly similar to this process, but in this case, heated liquid plastic is vertically poured into molten tubes, creating the vacuum part. These are the most common types of bottles, tubes, and containers. A cavity in a mold is filled with hot plastic resin and pressurized gas to form a hollow part.
- Compression Moulding
As with plastic mold processes, this process involves pressing solid plastic slugs between hot mold halves. Air-cooling was then performed on the parts. It is also possible to produce “flash lines” as with regular injection molding.
- Film Insert Molding
An image is literally molded underneath the outer surface of a molded part using this molding technique. A slot will be made in the mold to accommodate materials such as film or fabric. After that, plastic will be injected.
